Perm Staff Descriptions and Pay Rate

Job Descriptions

At camp, perm staff works closely together each day to ensure camp runs smoothly for program staff. All positions report to the Business Manager.

While staff have core responsibilities, they are expected to assist other staff members with their duties when available to do so.

Training is provided. Camp will reimburse 50% of Personal Protection Equipment required for any position.

While perm staff have set responsibilities and tasks, they will have opportunities to interact with campers during the week, by leading campfires, devotions and activity sessions.

These are outlines / informal descriptions of each position available. A full job description will be given to you prior to accepting the position.

Position Details

Kitchen Assistants

  • Prepare all meals and snacks during the week, under the direction of a Head Cook.
  • Clean-up after each meal
  • Adhere to food handler regulations
  • Assist other perm staff with their duties

Utility

Assist the Camp Maintenance Coordinator with:

  • Maintaiingn camp facilities, including daily cleaning of washrooms and light repairs
  • Maintaining campus grounds, including mowing lawn, weed control
  • Daily testing of the water supply, following ministry protocols
  • Assisting other perm staff with their duties

Floater

  • Assist where required to help other staff members complete their tasks.
  • Lifeguarding certification (Bronze Cross) is an asset.

Jr. Lifeguards

  • Assists with all waterfront activities, including guarding during swim times, canoeing and paddleboarding.
  • Participates in activity periods for campers
  • Ensure everyone is aware of water safety rules
  • Maintaining a "safety-first" alertness
  • Assist other perm staff with their duties

A minimum Bronze Cross is required.

 

Canada Job Grant Positions (Pending grant approval)

Applicants must meet Canada's Employee Eligibility requirements for this position.

We expect these positions to start Saturday, June 15 to provide ample time to prepare camp for the upcoming season.

Waterfront Coordinator

  • Responsible for all waterfront activities, including guarding during swim times, canoeing and paddleboarding
  • Organizing and leading daily activity periods for campers
  • Ensure everyone is aware of water safety rules
  • Maintaining a "safety-first" alertness
  • Assist other perm staff with their duties

National Lifeguard Service (NLS) is required for this position.

Camp Intern

  • Assist and be a resource for program staff
  • Provide 1-to-1 support for campers who need extra support
  • Organize and implement activities during the week
  • Assist other perm staff with their duties

Camp Assistant

  • Assist with the daily administration of camp
  • Assist program with daily crafts
  • Document official camp processes, health and safety procedures
  • Investigate cost-saving measures and efficiencies
  • Assist other perm staff with their duties

Maintenance Coordinator

  • Provide set-up/clean-up support for maintenance crews
  • Painting, janitorial duties, tidying, organizing, light repairs, campus maintenance
  • Equipment and building inspections
  • Water testing (Provincial certificate required - Training provided)
  • A valid G class license is required.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Assist other perm staff with their duties

Salary

Perm staff are paid every two weeks, based on previous perm staff experience in that position.

An additional 4% vacation pay is paid out with your final pay cheque.

* Pay rate for Camp Assistant, Camp Intern, Waterfront Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator may vary depending on Canada Job Grants approval.
